YMCA National Judicial Competition (NJC)
In 2017, Louisiana was honored to send our first delegation to the 6th National Judicial Competition (NJC), sponsored by the Y-USA and the American Bar Association. NJC is a chance for Y&G participants to expand on the legal issues they explore in Louisiana's state sessions and to meet fantastic delegate from other Y&G programs across the nation. This conference tests their speaking and rhetoric skills. Delegates work in groups to prepare speeches and arguments - they face competition from more than 300 Y&G participants from around the country. Delegates can choose between involvement in Mock Trial (criminal court) or a Model US Supreme Court (appellate court) - both of which involve intense preparation for exciting legal cases. Almost 50 years later, our delegation is as strong as ever. We hope to fill this page with our NJC accomplishments in the years to come.
